Gwen Sherwood, PhD, RN, FAAN, ANEF is Professor Emeritus at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing where she served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and founding Associate Dean for Global Initiatives. She was Co-PI for launching QSEN, the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses project to define a competency model to improve quality and safety, which she has taught globally. She is co-editor of Quality and Safety for Nurses: A Competency Approach to Improve Outcomes that has been translated into four languages as well as three books on reflective practice. She is adjunct faculty in the MedStar Healthcare Institute for Quality and Safety, senior faculty in the Academy for Emerging Leaders in Patient Safety and mentor in Sigma Theta Tau Leadership Academies. Among many honors, she holds an Honorary Doctorate from Jonkoping University in Sweden.
