Professor Dr. Mei Rosemary Fu

Dr. Mei R. Fu (PhD, RN, FAAN) is an internationally and nationally well-known nurse scientist, researcher, and educator. Dr. Fu holds the prestigious honor of the Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame (2017). This honor recognizes nurse researchers who have achieved significant and sustained national and international recognition for their work and whose research has influenced the profession and the people it serves. Dr. Fu was the recipient of the Oncology Nursing Foundation Connie Henke Yarbro Excellence in Cancer Nursing Mentorship Award (2020) to recognize her excellence in cancer nursing mentorship that has been demonstrated in her role as a nurse scientist going above and beyond in many ways. Dr. Fu is a Fellow of American Academy of Nursing, Senior Fellow of Geriatrics at the Hartford Institute of Geriatrics and Fellow of New York Academy of Medicine. Dr. Fu’s scientific focus has been on pain and symptoms, lymphedema, cancer, chronic illnesses, quality of life as well as intersections of culture, environments, climate change and social determinants of health. Her research incorporates qualitative and quantitative research methods, genomic and biomarker approaches, cutting-edge technology, mobile health as well as innovative behavioral interventions. Her award-winning research has been supported by National Institute of Health (NCI/NINR/NIMHD), National Science Foundation, the Oncology Nursing Foundation, the Avon Foundation, Pfizer Independent Learning and Change grant and other organizations. She has over 150 high quality publications in peer-reviewed journals, professional journals, book chapters, and scholarly professional publications. She has over 160 invited or peer-reviewed keynote, podium, and poster presentations at international, national, regional, and local conferences. She served as guest editors for high impact journals (e.g., Biomedicines and mHealth). She has served on the editorial board for more than 10 peer-reviewed journals.
As a well-known international leader in nursing and lymphology, Dr. Fu has been an active leader in American Academy of Nursing, serving as the Leading Co-chair for the Genomic Expert Panel (2016-2019); appointed Chair for Bylaw Committee for American Nurses Association-New York (2016-2020) Medical Advisory Committee of the National Lymphedema Network (2008-2018); elected Board of Directors for Lymphology Association of North America since 2009 (Chair for Bylaw Committee); appointed member of the Steering Committee for the International and American Lymphedema Framework (Chair for the research and dissemination committee) since 2009; elected President for Chinese American Nurses Association (2011-2013) and Scholarship Director since 2011; elected coordinator for Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Lymphedema Management Special Interest group (2008-2010); appointed member of ONS Education Advisory Panel (2009-2013).

Associate Professor Dr. Yuko Yasuhara

Yuko Yasuhara, RN; PHN, PhD, is an associate professor of nursing at the Department of Nursing Outcome Management of the Tokushima University Graduate School in Japan. She received her PhD from Kawasaki University of Medical Welfare (2013) and her MSN in Nursing from Kobe City College of Nursing University (2003). She worked for 7 years as a Registered Nurse in the emergency ward, emergency out-patient unit and catheterization laboratory, at the general hospital in Kobe, Japan. She has worked at the Tokushima University since 2003. She is interested in the care of patients with ischemic heart disease based on her clinical experiences, with particular emphasis on sleep, activity and improving the quality of life of patients. Recently, Dr. Yasuhara and co-researcher have continued collecting ethical and legal data from the nursing perspective on communication robots, which are used in the hospital.

Professor Dr. Hae-Ra Han,

Dr. Han is a tenured professor of nursing and public health at the Johns Hopkins University. She previously served as Chair of the department of community public health and Director of the school’s PhD program, and now serves as Associate Dean for Community Programs and Initiatives. Dr. Han has served multiple terms on the American Journal of Public Health editorial board while assuming leadership roles including chair and vice chair of the board. She is an expert on innovative intervention and methodological approaches to improve chronic care and outcomes for underserved people of color by improving health literacy. Her program of research has advanced thinking from the traditional paradigm of knowledge transfer from provider-to-patients to developing health literacy skills of patients to traverse the landscape of health screening and self-care to promote health equity. Dr. Han has led federally and non-federally funded studies totaling more than $20 million which have guided community-based healthcare practice nationally and internationally. In recognition of her work, Dr. Han has received honors and awards from multiple organizations that include American Public Health Association, Southern Nursing Research Society, National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurse Associations, Urban Health Institute, Asian American and Pacific Islander Caucus for Public Health, and Sigma Theta Tau-International.

Associate Professor Dr. Praneed Songwathana

Dr Praneed has been one of the most outstanding staff working in the Adult and Elderly Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Prince of Songkla University in Southern Thailand. After she graduated in the doctoral degree at University of Queensland, Australia, she has been involved with several researches both in clinical and non-clinical research, and academic work. She has experienced in working with people in cultural diversity in both clinical and community settings using a variety of qualitative approaches and experimental (intervention) designs. She has also engaged and delivered health and nursing services, particularly among vulnerable populations and within trauma and emergency care settings. She has been supervised and collaboratively worked with nurses, academic staff in several institutions both at national and international level. She has received several research awards such as from Thailand Nursing Council, University and Faculty since the year 2003.
As a team leader in Research Center for prevention and care of emergency and trauma, she has currently brought her expertise in Transitional care, Cultural Competence, Guideline development and implementation including evidence based knowledge to improve advanced nursing practice. Currently, she conducts a large project which aimed to strengthen the continuum care, integrated care system and emergency care services for clients living in a pandemic and within aging society. In addition, translation science to improve quality of care and health outcomes of both patients and caregivers particularly for those who violated by terrorism in southern Thailand and those who are vulnerable such as older or disabled people is the highly concerns. Her affiliation in Thailand has been a significant role with Thailand Nursing Council and Advanced Practice Nursing Association in terms of research and academic activities as a committee, curriculum developer and membership.

Margaret I Fitch, RN PhD, is a Professor (Adjunct) at the Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto, in Canada. She has a background in oncology nursing and psychosocial oncology. Her long-term research focus has been on coping and adaptation of patients/survivors and families across the cancer trajectory. Psychosocial care in cancer and survivorship are specific foci for her work. Dr. Fitch also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Oncology Nursing Journal and teaches within the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Rwanda, in Kigali, and at the University of Nairobi, Kenya.

Angela Y. M. Leung is Professor and Director of WHO Collaborating Centre for Community Health Services in School of Nursing of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She was the recipient of The Excellent Health Promotion Project Award given by the Food and Health Bureau, Hong Kong Government (2021), awardee in the Hartford Geriatric Scholars Program in Johns Hopkins University (2014) and Distinguished Gerontological Nursing Educator by National Hartford Centre for Gerontological Nursing Excellence, USA (2018). She is an active researcher in health literacy and dementia caregiving, with a wide range of publications in international journals (e.g. doi:10.2196/10662; doi:10.2196/16772). She has a strong belief that technology can help people to understand their current health status and make the informed health decision. One of her recent innovations is the Blended Gaming COVID-19 Training System (BGCTS) for training residential care home workers with WHO infection control guidelines and local regulations. She is also dedicated to community-based health promotion initiatives. She lined up frontline workers and nursing students to adopt WHO ICOPE model in their practices.
